R.J. Elbin, Ph.D.

Robert J. Elbin, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Exercise Science and director of the University of Arkansas’s Office for Sport Concussion Research. Dr. Elbin’s research focuses on:

  1. Examining the neurocognitive, physical and psychosocial effects of sport-related concussion in youth and adolescent populations
  2. Identifying factors that influence risk and recovery from sport-related concussion
  3. Documenting best practices for the clinical assessment, management and treatment of concussion.

His graduate and post-doctoral training included both field- and clinic-based research fellowships in sports medicine and focused on the application of quantitative research methodology and statistical approaches for the study of sport-related concussion. Dr. Elbin has published more than 100 professional publications and presented more than 200 professional presentations in concussion. He has received funding as a co-investigator from external sources including the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Special Operations Command, National Operating Committee of Standards for Athletic Equipment and National Football League Charities.

Kori Durfee

Kori Durfee — Kori received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Sioux Falls in 2019. She received a Master of Art in Kinesiology and Sports Management at the University of South Dakota in 2020 where she was a brain health research intern at Sanford Sport Science Institute. She is in her first year of her Ph.D. in Health, Sport and Exercise Science at the University of Arkansas.

Adam England

Adam England — Adam received a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Wellness from Missouri Southern State University in 2021. He is in his second year of his Master of Exercise Science at the University of Arkansas.
